Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

Wow. I am familiar with Langston Hughes. I may not agree with his philosophy of life but not one give voice to the philosophy as he does.
Thanks Lori!
Can't wait for the day you have the most searched poems!

I do like the way he expresses his thoughts. I used one of his poems in my April Month of Poetry album.

This poem reminds me of a Hebrew proverb: Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.
